Here are supportive messages from some of the organisations amplifying the campaign to promote responsible use of flea and tick treatments. Are you ready to join them?
We encourage a practical and proportionate approach to the use of parasiticides, including around a pet’s water-based activities and grooming. It is essential that all involved collaborate to protect our combined health and the environment we share into the future. Tackling this One Health challenge is a joint endeavour.
British Small Animal Veterinary Association
RUMA Companion Animal & Equine welcomes this campaign and its focus on helping pet owners use flea and tick spot-on treatments responsibly. We believe that promoting awareness of responsible use of parasiticides amongst pet owners is a real priority and are proud to support this important initiative.
RUMA Companion Animal and Equine Chair, Gwyn Jones
AMTRA welcomes this campaign encouraging pet owners to use flea and tick spot-on treatments responsibly. Judicious use of these treatments will help ensure optimal animal health outcomes and mitigate potential negative environmental impacts. SQPs are on the frontline of supply and advice, helping owners choose and use these products safely, effectively and appropriately.
AMTRACEO, Stephen Dawson
It is great to see the launch of this campaign to help pet owners use flea and tick spot-on treatments responsibly. While our focus at RUMA Agriculture is on responsible medicine use across livestock sectors, many people working in farming are also pet owners – often of working dogs and other domestic animals on farm – so these messages are directly relevant to the farming community too. The underlying principles of responsible medicines use and taking a risk-based approach to the use of parasiticides, applies across all animal species be that livestock, horses and pets, and we will continue to work in collaboration with stakeholders to champion these important messages .
RUMA Agriculture Chair, James Russell
It is fantastic to see the launch of this campaign. Spot on products contain environmentally toxic chemicals. We detect these substances in the rivers and lakes that we love. This initiative should help society continue to benefit from access to these important pet health treatments while also protecting the health of the wider environment .
